Dr. Nystrom
Founder of Shasta Professional Eyecare Center, Dr. Gerald Nystrom built SPEC around his own vision for the ideal eyecare center. After almost three decades in the profession, he has since retired, but Dr. Nystrom’s wealth of expertise and devotion to the practice keeps him involved as a consultant for the team and their patients.
About SPEC
Founded by Dr. Gerald W. Nystrom in 1991 at the present location, Dr. Steven L. Goedert joined Dr. Nystrom one year later. Both Doctors had previously practiced in Redding since the early 1970’s. Dr. Nystrom has since retired and Curtis Newcomb, O.D. and Janet Schroeder Newcomb, O.D. have stepped in with the latest in medical knowledge in primary care, contact lenses, pre and post operative care, and ocular disease management.
In addition to a long-established history of family vision care, Dr. Goedert brings to the practice more than 25 years of experience in the field of behavioral optometry and vision therapy. Dr. Curtis Newcomb has joined Dr. Goedert in the practice of vision therapy.
